About Me
Meet the newest member of the Old Cashiers Realty Team, Mike Blaylock. He was taking a break from full time canine-assisted law enforcement (he remains active on the Waynesville, NC Special Response Team) to work at Mountaintop Golf & Country Club as an Outdoor Pursuits Coach. When he met Kati Miller and Ali Moody in their roles as Mountaintop’s in-house real estate sales team they hit it off and he knew he was ready to pursue the career he had only considered years ago.
A lifelong resident, Mike fell in love with the homes and properties of Western North Carolina while working for a custom home builder in college. He was intrigued by the unique materials and architectural styles of mountain homes; the planning necessary to capitalize on elevation and capture the best possible view. He considered real estate then but the timing was not right for him to jump into a career that generally takes years to develop without any guarantee of a steady income. Meeting Kati and Ali; talking to them about their approach to this vibrant market convinced him to pursue his dream.
Mike grew up in the small town of Bethel, NC near Waynesville and encouraged us to extend our coverage to include Haywood County all the way to Charlotte and Mecklenburg County. His extensive ties to the community and firsthand knowledge of the many towns and neighborhoods east of Highlands and Cashiers make this a natural fit for expansion beyond the Highlands-Cashiers Plateau.
It’s been just over a year with Mike on board and the fit has proven true. You rarely meet someone who has done everything you can think of from cutting lawns in high school to training a police dog to find explosives and narcotics but who is still up for a new adventure. He has the work ethic and tenacity that we feel is fundamental to success in our industry but never fails to find the humor and fun in what we all love to do; help our clients with advice and assistance with every aspect of the North Carolina real estate market.
